The Christmas spirit has taken over and we have been excited all week here at the Money-Guy Show. In 2011, it has been tempting to get caught up in negativity between the pessimism in Washington and devastating stories on the nightly news. However, in today’s show, we offer some tips for blocking out the noise and steering your life in a positive direction for the New Year.
A recent example of defying the odds with a positive attitude is Denver Broncos quarterback, Tim Tebow. He has recently received widespread attention and has been making headlines everywhere by simply winning. This is a guy who has not been expected to perform well, but week after week, he finds it within himself to win. We have been impressed (even though we are all Georgia Bulldogs) by Tebow’s perseverance and optimism and think we could all learn a little something about the power of a positive outlook.
1. Write down 30 goals for the coming year: These can be personal or professional, big or small. No matter what your goals may be, putting pen to paper can have a huge impact on whether or not you accomplish them because there is something extremely gratifying about checking an item off a list.
2. Literally buy yourself a white board. We recently put one up in our office and have been amazed by the results. We keep lists of prospects, motivating quotes, and important reminders on ours. Walking by a board of goals, motivation, etc. on a daily basis drives you to action.
3. Evaluate what negative elements you have in your life. Many of us have relationships, jobs, or other factors that contribute a lot of negativity to our lives. This is the perfect time to cleanse yourself of those things. You can start the new year off by moving in the right direction.
During this holiday season, we also think it’s important to take time to reflect on what you are thankful for and ways that you may be able to give back. There is this great website out there called Socialvest.us, which lets you give a percentage of what you buy from retailers to your designated charities. They have partnered with over 600 retailers and over 1.5 million charities to make giving back easier than ever. We encourage you guys to check it out if you are interested in donating to a good cause.
As we are coming to the end of the year, we hope you all know how thankful we are to our listeners. We wouldn’t have the success that we have without you, and we are truly grateful.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from The Money-Guy Team!
